I am dbs checked as I have been teaching students physics and other sciences for 30+ years now and I still feel as enthusiastic now as I did on my first day. I feel that the wealth of experience I have had over the years has allowed me to quickly identify the needs of a young person and work with their strengths to develop them and reach their true potential. I have taught at 8 different secondary schools in the local area and helped numerous students to be successful - to enter university to study physics or engineering as well as starting higher level apprenticeships.
I also mark exam papers and have done for around 22 years so this has helped me recognise the common patterns in examination questions and help students to do the same. I always use past exam questions as practice and challenge my students to complete as many as possible so that they feel very prepared when they enter the room for their final test.
I still work full time in a mixed comprehensive secondary school in Reading and always keep up to date with the latest developments. Teaching GCSE Science and A Levels during lockdown has been a challenge for us all and I have completed extra training courses to make sure I am fully prepared.
I started tutoring five years ago to earn a bit of extra cash and have found it to be incredibly rewarding to be able to work with students one to one and give them the extra help and support that is more difficult to do in a lesson with a whole class in front of you and the time limits of a school timetable.
I have children of my own and I know how frustrating it can be to see them not enjoying a subject or not making the progress you would expect.
I am flexible with changing times for tutoring in the week and usually make arrangements via text message. I am happy to tutor online and am punctual and reliable. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
