Information about Jonathan
I am a fully qualified Primary school teacher, currently working in Lambeth. I have a teaching degree from University College London in Primary teaching and I have worked as a tutor, teaching assistant and classroom teacher in schools across London. I have a passion for wanting children from all backgrounds to do their best in English and maths as it is so crucial for their future.
I think that building children`s confidence is the most important thing for their long term attitude for learning so I make learning cooperative and engaging through lots of shared practise and discussion. I also make learning relevant to the learner by learning children`s strengths and weaknesses over time.
my lesson resources include learning schemes, my own lesson resources, pictures to use as writing prompts and paper manipulatives.
My sessions can assist children in:
- Maths arithmetic (multiplication, subtraction, division, addition)
- Maths reasoning and problem solving
- Reading comprehension
- Grammar
- Early reading / Phonics
Please do not hesitate to email if you have any questions or would like to arrange a first meeting.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have tutored younger students since I was 16 and taught professionally as a class teacher for two years in Lewisham, Greenwich and Tower Hamlets.
I specialise in teaching maths and English from KS1 to KS2 level and am able to extend children to KS3 level.
I have experience as a tutor, teaching assistant and classroom teacher. I have taught early maths and reading, phonics, grammar and oracy using engaging methods online and in person. As a teacher, I have made learning accessible to children with Dyslexia, English as an additional language and challenged higher attaining children with investigation tasks.
