Hello. My name is Patricia and I am a resourceful and enthusiastic, qualified maths teacher with over 20 years experience of home educating my own three children, teaching and private tuition. I am currently teaching mathematics up to GCSE at a large state secondary school and tutoring.
I am a qualified Chartered Accountant with a strong acumen and academic background. I have extensive experience in tutoring and business, achieving a successful career in both fields.
I teach in a relaxed, friendly and encouraging/ nurturing atmosphere which enables pupils to reach their full potential.

Experience: I am fully conversant with the syllabus and teach mathematics across the curriculum. I offer private tuition to home and school educated pupils and adult learners.
I have worked with pupils across a broad age, ability and needs spectrum. I teach pupils with disabilities, those with additional needs and pupils who do not have English as their first language.
I prepare engaging and challenging lessons for key stage 1 and 2 as a private tutor/ home educator in maths and have helped prepare pupils for SAT and school entrance exams.

At Key stage 3 and 4 I prepare pupils for GCSE Higher and Foundation mathematics exams. I have a structured yet flexible approach to teaching, based on the individual student’;s capabilities and needs, maintaining a balance between student centred and directed learning. I encourage my students at a pace suitable to their age, ability and aptitude. I am approachable, supportive and patient and tailor lessons appropriately. I motivate and encourage my students, enabling them to successfully achieve their goals.

I am patient and thorough and realise that pedagogy must be accompanied by the ability to impart information successfully so that learning is understood and retained by learners. I am enthusiastic, flexible and approachable and believe all students should be encouraged to reach their full potential. I create a safe, inspiring learning environment for all my pupils, where students can express themselves, question, think and thereby achieve excellence. Each lesson is unique and I show how the variety of subjects within maths that I teach can be applied outside the classroom for enjoyment and understanding, rather than just teaching for the test. I help learners feel comfortable with the subjects .
