I’m a fully DBS-checked music tutor who has been teaching since 2015. I mostly work with children (including some SEN students) across piano, guitar, drums, music theory, and composition.

I offer flexible and engaging lessons tailored to each student’s interests and goals, whether you’re learning purely for enjoyment or preparing for graded exams. I can enrol students with both ABRSM and Trinity, and to date, every one of my exam-taking students has achieved at least a Merit in their exams.
Many of my students stick with me long-term — I’m currently preparing one student for their diploma, having started working together on grade 2.

I also offer and encourage combined lessons such as:
Piano + Composition — apply your developing skills to the creation of original music.
Drums + Music Theory — develop an understanding of pitch despite learning an unpitched instrument.

Beyond teaching, I’m an active musicologist working with a company that develops cutting-edge new compositional systems. I’m also a composer writing for short films, solo projects that engage with everything from classical, experimental ambient, pop, rock, hip-hop and metal, and my post-metal band, Beatrix. I’m also a published writer, working for the likes Prog Magazine, Kerrang!, Total Film, and Business Insider, and often pair my writing with photography.

I have a first-class degree in music and a master’s with distinction in composition, both from the University of Surrey.
