Information about Georgia
I teach and tutor because I think its so important that learning is a bespoke and tailored experience. There is nothing more gratifying than finding exactly how each individual child learns best and then watching them grow in confidence both academically and personally. I think we learn best when lessons are, creative, rigorous and consistent but ultimately fun!
Availability: I am available both week days and week ends.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: I have trained professionally, securing a First Class Honours BA in Theatre and Performance from Goldsmiths University and subsequently an MA in Directing for Theatre from St Mary`s Twickenham, also to First Class standard.
I have demonstrable experience of working with young people and it is absolutely the foundation on which my practice is built (and is always the highlight of my week). I worked at Brighton College, directing and teaching the performance elements of Theatre GCSE/A-Level modules to 100% A*-A standard across both examination cohorts (over 40 students.), I was a Practioner-In-Residence at Colfes School London, again facilitating rehearsals of the more practical modules of the syllabus and running workshops on relevant practitioners in order to prepare pupils for examinations. I also tutored in English for several pupils and ran clinics on exam practice of English GCSE and A-Level.
I have also regularly privately tutored Drama and English to an A* A-Level standard, mainly for the Edexcel and WJEC boards.
I have worked at Identity School of Acting for the last few years, teaching adult students, who mostly have not has access to the private school system, how to best analyse and deconstruct dramatic texts and self-direct themselves in order to best prepare them for auditions and opportunities in professional contexts and further conservatoire training. Students have gone on to establish careers in film, tv, theatre and radio. I am about to lead their first module for Radio Drama and direct a showcase of monologues and duologues, finding thirty select pieces of text that best present a diverse cohort for further work in the professional sector.
I am fully familiar with the many English syllabuses and am aware of the need for staff to maintain scrupulously efficient systems and records while delivering results.
