Information about Dominic
An Imperial College Biomedical Science graduate, I now tutor full time, specialising in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths at both GCSE and A-Level.
I have always thoroughly enjoyed my studies and believe that the key to excelling in learning comes from having a tutor that has a passion for the material they are teaching.
As well as tutoring Science and Maths at GCSE and A-Level, I also tutor for the BMAT and UCAT University entrance exams. Having helped a number of students with these exams, I understand how the tests work and how to ensure a student is best prepared to achieve a high grade and secure a place at their chosen university.
The most important thing is assessing what we`d like to get out of the experience and then setting our goals based on that. These can vary from completing a bit of coursework, all the way to a year long program that will culminate in the achievement of a desired grade.
Once we`ve established these goals, the next step is to identify our `strong points` and our `points to work on`, so we can prioritize the most important topics and tasks.
As a young graduate who has been through the system from start to finish, I provide a relatable, qualified and friendly option for students of any age.
Availability: Daytimes, evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: 50 miles
Experience: - Over 1000 private tutoring hours in Science and Maths, with students consistently over-achieving against predicted grades and University offers.
- Tutored several students in the BMAT and UCAT to achieve high scores resulting in offers from their chosen universities, including Oxford and University College London.
- Biomedical Science (with Surgery and Anaesthesia) BSc from Imperial College London.
- A*AA in Chemistry, Biology and Maths at A-Level.
-12 A*`s and 2 A`s at GCSE.
- In the previous academic year I have tutored 11 GCSE students and 8 A-Level students. This included taking 2 students from mock D grades to final exam A*s, in Biology, Maths and Chemistry GCSE`s. All my A-Level students achieved the required grades for their university offer.
- Experience with students from ages 11 to university level through voluntary work with scouting.
- Built and ran a `Science for beginners` curriculum at a `Camp America` in the summer of 2015.
- Assisted in running first year degree revision sessions for exams.
