Hey, my name is Ria, and I am currently at Aston University studying Applied Science and Engineering.
I studied Maths, Computer Science and Physics at Herschel Grammar School for A-Levels. I have always been highly passionate about Maths as a subject and have improved my skills over the years. I received a Grade 8 in my Maths GCSE which is equivalent to an A*.
Method of teaching:
I will aim to teach each student topics according to the grade they are working at, and then gradually introduce new topics, from higher grades in order to encourage them to gain higher marks. Whilst I understand each student progresses through different learning techniques, my main approach would be to teach in a simplified manner, so that they can understand the content more easily, whilst still making sure I cover all the information thoroughly. As for resources, I will be providing exam style questions and timed exam papers to each student, depending on the content we have covered in lessons and therefore engaging them in exam practice to improve their Math skills. From these papers I can then identify where the students are lacking in confidence or knowledge, and hence provide even more beneficial tutoring sessions. To increase the efficiency of the sessions further, I will mark papers and homework outside of lessons and then give homework accordingly, or go through specific topics in lessons. Being a student myself, I also believe I can provide students with valuable exam tips on how to handle stress and time management throughout exam season. Providing a relaxed teaching environment will also be one of my top aims, as I strongly believe students work better with a calm mind and therefore, potentially avoid making silly mistakes that could cost them marks. The final goal for all students would be to improve their grade and most definitely pass their exams.

Experience: Previously, I was a Maths ambassador at my school and I taught students from younger years Maths during my breaktime. I provided one-to-one sessions to less able students and gradually saw an improvement in their performance within the subject. Additionally, I tutored a Year 9 GCSE Maths student for a course of a year during lockdown and again saw improvements. After tutoring several students from different year groups, I believe I am capable of dealing with a range of students with different abilities and gaining fulfilling results.
