I am an experienced science tutor with a medical background, teaching biology, chemistry and physics at GCSE. I am passionate about science and love inspiring my students to get excited about the subject. I share my enthusiasm with my students so they become motivated to work hard and do well because they enjoy what they’re studying. As well as teaching my students science, I aim to teach them how to approach learning in a way that they enjoy and can get the most out of.

My lessons are always interactive and I tailor my teaching style to the individual to ensure that they get the most out of our lessons. I think that it is really important for the student to have a sense of ownership over their learning so I aim to work with them as collaboratively as possible. I have a calm and patient manner, working well with students at all levels. I am good at breaking down concepts so they can be easily understood and work particularly well with students who are struggling at school.

I always make sure that I give my students a solid foundation of knowledge that we can then build on together. I like to teach complicated concepts from first principles, ensuring that my students thoroughly understand the topic. I find that this gives them the tools to approach exam questions in a scientific and logical way rather than relying on recall. Throughout my lessons I maintain a focus on exam technique, encouraging my students to think in a way that will prepare them for their exams.

I’m proud to say that, regardless of the grades they were getting when we began working together, my approach has enabled all my students to date to achieve very high results. My students also tell me that my teaching changed the way they think about science, with the majority of them being inspired to continue studying at least one science A Level.

Experience: I have extensive tutoring experience across the exam boards with excellent feedback from both my students and their parents. I teach all three sciences, at higher or foundation level, either together or in combination depending on the needs of my students. I am also a teacher on the PMT Easter revision courses, held at Imperial College London.

In addition, I have teaching experience in several other settings. While at medical school I taught on one of the faculty`s Student Selected Components and ran revision sessions for other medical students. I also mentored students from disadvantaged backgrounds applying for medical school.
