Information about Mark

I am currently a teacher in charge of Physics at a local High School.

I teach to the current AQA Specification at GCSE and at AS/A level (Physics 7407/8) with Astrophysics as my specialty in the optional topic. I have previously taught to the OCR Advancing Physics spec too. For the last six years I have been providing A Level tuition to the WJEC spec. However, all specs cover the same basic principles and therefore the skills and knowledge are transferable regardless. The additional experience of being an external examiner has further honed my teaching of key concepts and key words along with the appropriate skills and tips needed for students to succeed in the A Level Physics exams.

I have previously provided private tuition whereby my students have achieved either their forecast or better grade. This along with teaching students of all abilities allows me to provide a personalised programme of study and preparation for students for their imminent exams or over a duration of a course.

Addition (from 26th June 2021): With the recent Covid-19 crisis, I have had to embrace online and remote learning for private tuition (as well as the need in teaching my high school students). Using the likes of Zoom where lessons can be recorded for further review and extra support for students who need to just "pause and rewind" allows for that extra versatility in delivery and has further honed my pedagogical skills to provide the best tuition possible. Remote learning has added another route to learning, progress and ultimate performance in Physics at A level, GCSE, and KS3 Science for the student.

Availability: Evenings after 6pm. Sometimes earlier if available. Willing to travel to tutee`s home. Remote learning allows for extra flexibility.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: 18 Years Teaching up to and including A Level Physics
9 Years External AS & A Level Physics examiner for a leading exam board.

We want to pen down our appreciation for Mark for being an excellent tutor. His teaching methodologies are second to none as he manages to equip our son with knowledge and skills, which helped him to achieve excellent grade in his lower sixth exams. In fact, he was awarded the best student in his year for Physics. We want to thank him for the efforts and being available even out of the teaching hours to resolve the smallest of the queries.

Mark tutored my daughter for her A Levels. She found his style of teaching to be exactly what she needed. In addition to the knowledge she gained, the confidence that she acquired from the tutoring has lead her to achieve the A*s she needed for her university course. Thank you so much.

Mark has been a really helpful tutor for our son. We ask him for help in transferring from GCSE level to BTEC/Alevel and he was able to identify main problems and concentrate on his weaknesses. Lessons were always well planned and relevant. We would recommend him as a tutor

Mark has been a great tutor for my son. He has become much more confident and actually feels ready for his A level physics exams! Mark has always gone the extra mile with his tuition, lesson planning and going over past papers etc. I would highly recommended him as a tutor.

Mark tutored my son in Physics throughout the final year of his GCSEs. From the outset, Mark took a very structured approach to lessons. He took time to identify my son`s strengths, before designing sessions to focus on his weaknesses. Mark always set relevant and sensible `homework` and was very good at sharing additional revision tools. Another key to Mark`s success was his ability to relate the theory of physics to everyday life, something my son always found very helpful. My son was predicted a C when Mark started to tutor him. Ultimately, he achieved an A*. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Mark.

Mark has been tutoring our son for a number of weeks. He was able to determine gaps in our son`s knowledge and weaknesses within the first half hour of his first session.
Mark has a deep knowledge of the subject and an excellent teaching technique. He is teaching our son all the key topics and exam techniques, tailored to our son’s needs.
Mark is very reliable, passionate about the subject he teaches and we recommend him highly.
