Information about Suraiya
Hello! My name is Suraiya and I`m in my third year of studying Medicine at Imperial College London. I completed A levels in Biology, Chemistry and French, receiving 3 A*s.
In science, I received full UMS in all three science GCSEs and in all written components of Biology A level. Science is a major passion of mine, I love how it`s constantly on the move and it`s the principal reason I chose to study at Imperial. There`s a buzz with science, and in particular Biology that makes it so fundamentally engaging.
In languages, I received full UMS in both Spanish and French GCSEs, and at A level including full UMS in my French A level oral examination. At French A-level, our text was Moliere`s L`Avare, an equivalent to Shakespeare, in terms of the archaic language used and I lived in Paris for three months.
If I wasnt studying Medicine, Id probably be studying English Literature as I have an enduring passion for reading and literature, especially Shakespeare. I derive a real pleasure in reading and analysing text and poetry that I am keen to pass on. I received an A* at GCSE including full UMS in the poetry module. Literature exams are very technique driven and preparation can seem less clear-cut, than content-driven subjects. I have extremely efficient, workable revision techniques to share as well as my enthusiasm!
I`m a big believer that confidence and encouragement are key to flourishing as a student. This means getting meaningful feedback and having a tutor that believes in you. I also subscribe to the view that if learning is enjoyable, it`s easier. For this you need a tutor with enthusiasm. And practically speaking, exams are by their very nature, a lot to do with technique. Learn the techniques and things get a lot easier. That of course means having someone who can teach you an efficient approach that will work for you.
I`m friendly, enthusiastic and a great listener, we`ll work together to help you reach your goals.
Availability: I`m flexible. Please get in touch to let me know what times work for you and we`ll arrange something.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: At university, I regularly lead teaching sessions for younger years including both lectures and practical classes. And have been involved in teaching "Getting into Medicine" in an access to Medicine outreach program.
Prior to that, I did a lot of tutoring whilst at sixth form and high school. I mentored in Chemistry GCSE and Key Stage 2 Maths.
I`m very proud of all the students I helped to reach their goals and look forward to helping you reach yours!

Suraiya has been tutoring my 15 yr old daughter in GCSE French for the past few months. She has helped my daughter gain confidence in speaking French more fluently. My daughters grammar and writing skills have also shown a steady improvement at school. I would highly recommend Suraiya as a French tutor.

Suraiya is an absolute pleasure to deal with. My son is responding well so far in his French lessons and I believe Suraiya will make further progress with him in the coming months.
