Information about Ana

My name is Ana, I am 23 and currently based in Cambridge while completing a PgDL Law Conversion. I am offering tutoring in English Literature, English Language and History at GCSE level.

I am friendly, patient and clear. As a state-educated student, and part of the first cohort to sit 9-1 GCSEs, I combine a strong educational background with first-hand experience of these exams. I also have personal experience of catching up large quantities of missed school. I would be delighted to work with any Year 10 or 11 student looking to improve their performance and confidence in GCSE English Literature, Language or History. Please feel free to message with questions!

I have a strong educational background. I completed my GCSEs and A-Levels at a state grammar school, achieving eight Grade 9s in the first year of 9-1 exams (2018) and A*A*A*A at A-Level. In 2024 I graduated from Durham University with a first class degree in English & History, ranking 1st in my cohort. Last month I completed an MPhil in American History at the University of Cambridge, graduating with an average of 72.

Aside from academics, I am a keen tennis player and pianist. I have also done a fair amount of travelling, spending the past four university summers travelling around the Balkans, Southeast Asia and Canada. I previously worked as a research intern at the University of Saskatchewan, funded by Mitacs and the Canadian Government. During my time at Cambridge I completed funded research in Boston, Massachusetts.

Availability: I am very flexible this academic year, as I can shape my studies around tutoring commitments. I am new to Tutor Hunt and my former tutees have recently sat their exams, so I have plenty of availability.

Experience: I previously served as leader of Durham University`s 1-2-1 Tutoring Project, a large educational outreach scheme that provides educational assistance to local students. I personally delivered around 300 hours of tutoring in GCSE English, both online and in person.

I have significant experience working with students who often do not feel that they enjoy English - or school in general! I look to increase confidence and make the work enjoyable, for I have found that improvements naturally follow. Previous tutees have all taken up places at their chosen colleges, with some fulfilling requirements for prestigious private school bursaries.
