Hi there!

My name is Tom and I`m Piano Tutor working in the South East London area.

In 2014 I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a First Class Honors Degree in Music. I have spent the last four years teaching Piano to all ages and abilities. I work in two primary schools, but teach many teenagers and some adults on a private basis too.

Many of my students go down the classical music route, and I have ample experience coaching children and adults alike ranging from absolute beginner to Grade 8 standard, and every stage in between. I am equally comfortable teaching both ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses, and have never had a student fail a Grade exam.

Learning an instrument isn`t just about taking exams though of course! I strongly believe that people should play music which they enjoy and are interested in, whether it`s a piece of classical music, film music, jazz, blues, or learning to play some of their favourite pop, rock or musical songs. I am happy to teach in any style - as well as learning to read music, many of my students enjoy lessons in chord theory, improvising, song writing / composition and learning to play in a band / ensemble as well as on their own. If you don`t know what interests you at this stage then that`s fine too - we can work it out together!

Outside of teaching, I work as an accompanist for choirs and soloists and play in two bands - one instrumental rock, and another jazz.

I am fully DBS checked and have my own vehicle.

Availability: My timetable for weekly lessons during term time is full at the moment. However, I am currently available for ad hoc lessons during school holidays. Please enquire.
