HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist in SEND education setting with experience teaching English as a foreign language. I have a degree in speech and language sciences from Newcastle University.

In teaching English, in learning foreign languages and in my environment, effective communication is something I work hard to achieve. After gaining a 2:1 in BSc Evolutionary Biology at the University of Liverpool in 2013 I was accepted into the English Language Assistant scheme China with the British Council. In 2013 I taught in traditional Jiangxi province and in 2015 in the multicultural mega-city of Beijing. This leap has tested my adaptability and maturity. Big responsibilities and big classes of over 70 in Jiujiang led the British Council`s partner CEAIE to nominate me for a position in Renmin University`s prestigious Affiliated High School (RDFZ).
I have taught a range of ages with 2 and a half years of experience. I first taught adults in a language centre called `The Language House` in Liverpool, UK .In this role I introduced students to the IELTS syllabus and the Cambridge First exam (FCE). I tutored in writing, reading and speaking to small classes where I really managed to build rapport with the students. Teaching adults was my first experience teaching ESL and I felt I adapted my style quickly and learnt intensively, not least because I was the only English teacher in the small school.
The responsibility of the job in Beijing China pushed me forward to excel and enhanced my teaching capabilities. I was given a lot more responsibility and the students of a much higher level. I was allowed to design and run my own British pronunciation course with the school ran as an elective. This helped me gain valuable experience in course management and organising and planning lessons. My experience with elementary aged students is as follows. While teaching in Jiujiang, Jiangxi I taught in various tutoring schools. Namely `Let`s go English` and `Enchanted English`, Here I taught a set syllabus to children aged 6-14 years. I taught private tutoring lessons and groups of 10-20. I had a great relationship with both cram schools and could obtain references. While in Beijing I have been tutoring 7 year olds on a Monday evening. A syllabus of biology and English language combined. I have also taught this English and biology combination to a separate 8 year old student. I felt these students significantly improved in the time with me even thought they had been taught by American native speakers in the past.
From April 2015 I was teaching FCE and KET courses to a range of ages in Taipei, Taiwan working for the multinational tutoring company Shane’s English.
Through my experience in China PRC and in Taiwan I have learnt Mandarin and I am now at an advanced level and have a HSK 5 qualification. I also speak conversational French and Spanish.
I have proven myself to be an independent and adaptable worker - a lesson I have learned since graduating is how important it is to have a social support network and to collaborate ideas to make a plan stronger. I can supply references on request.

I then taught classes of 20 in Shane English in Taiwan, the Republic of China. I have an advanced HSK 5 qualification in Mandarin Chinese.
