Information about Wilf

I am an outgoing, enthusiastic individual who is motivated by opportunities to learn and communicate. I am organised, efficient and hard-working. I enjoy meeting new people and engaging with new challenges.

I have experience in teaching roles, notably in English and Music tuition, and experience in planning and organising. I am a confident speaker and performer. I am highly literate and numerate, competent with a range of computer software, and quick to learn. I speak three languages, and thoroughly enjoy learning language.

I am a musician and composer with a particular interest in sound synthesis and manipulation of organic and acoustic sounds. I write primarily ambient and jazz music.

Availability: Flexible - if you get in touch with what sort of tuition you need then we`ll be able to work out a schedule.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: In 2016, I spent a few months of this teaching English with two NGOs in Peru (Otra Cosa Network and NAFE). The work with OCN consisted primarily of English teaching, but NAFE involved work on arithmetic, Spanish, English and general arts and crafts with children aged 5 to 11.

In July and August 2018, I worked as a teacher in specialist English language schools in Shantou and Shenzhen, China. I built on my teaching experience, teaching a wider age range of 4 to 16 across a language barrier with which I was less familiar.

As a member of the Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra Ambassadors (2013-15) I have had experience of planning and running music workshops in English primary schools: teaching, leading workshop bands and introducing children to musical ideas, including varying elements according to the children`s different ability levels.

A highly successful jazz workshop at the 2015 Nišville festival in Serbia, open to the public and other musicians, demonstrated my ability to communicate ideas despite a complete language barrier.

I have given English language tutoring to a French au pair, which helped me learn how to structure one-to-one tuition.
