I am an experienced and enthusiastic A level Psychology teacher, recently retired . I have a BA in Psychology from the University of Cape Town, a post-graduate secondary teacher`s diploma and a Masters with a Distinction from the University of Manchester. My experience includes being Head of Psychology for 17 years at a leading, independent school in Stockport where I achieved excellent results

In my lessons I aim to foster an enjoyment of the subject as well as focusing single-mindedly on achieving good exam results. I provide personalised learning materials for each lesson, which pupils can use to complement their school notes and incorporate into their revision.
Students always comment that they find my notes very useful, as they include activities and practice exam questions.
I help pupils to fine-tune their essay writing skills, develop their skills of evaluation and practise their research methods, which now comprise 25% of the exam. I aim to promote confidence and self-belief through improved performance and mastery of psychological concepts and skills. As an examiner, I am finely tuned in to the demands of the new spec and can focus students very effectively on how to answer exam questions to gain maximum marks.
Against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the understandable anxieties students have about the disruption to their A-Level studies , I feel I can offer a vital role in supporting and helping A level students to catch up the work they have missed and to reinforce topics which teachers have been unable to consolidate because of the hurried closure of schools and colleges.

Against the backdrop of the corona virus epidemic, I am offering lessons via Skype but face to face lessons will resume when the pandemic is in abeyance.

Availability: I am available mainly on weekdays, afternoons and evenings but can offer flexibility and make myself available on some weekends.
