Information about Elizabeth

Hi!
I studied English Literature at Oxford University from 2007-2010, and whilst there was awarded two scholarships.
Since leaving, I have tutored adults and children in English Literature and Art History and analysis at GCSE, A-Level, undergraduate, and post-graduate level, and currently work term-time at Tonbridge School as a Librarian.
I am approachable, friendly and always aim to make the study of literature a joyful thing, which will not simply prepare children and keen adults for exam entry, but to become empathetic and incisive individuals. I believe that results are crucial but must be attained by working with the pupil`s own tastes, ideas and needs so that they can retain and build on a sense of the magic and fun of reading and writing.

Availability: I am available every weekday from 6pm and all day during school holidays. I have my own space for working, a studio with a large outside space.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: As above, I attended Oxford University and took a degree in English Literature from 2007-2010, during which I was awarded two scholarships for academic excellence and achieved a 2.1. I have since worked with children, undergraduates and postgraduates delivering one to one lessons and group sessions in the study of English Literature, Art History and research, essay writing and academic writing skills. I have delivered lessons and group sessions at Sotheby`s and Christie`s auction houses, at Tonbridge School, and at Northumbria University in Newcastle, as well as from home. In my current role as a Librarian at Tonbridge School I am regarded as a key part of the English department and am responsible for delivering help with the selection of and analysis of set texts and other reading material, as well as providing students with help on structuring essays and coursework projects. I can also help with study skills, revision skills and time management. In addition to this, I run Creative Writing lessons at Tonbridge School and have had success with my own writing on a national level, winning several national competitons. I am currently working on a novel.
