I am an A-Level and GCSE Chemistry teacher with 18 years experience. I currently tutor both A level and GCSE students. I have produced resources for all of my lessons and so can produce bespoke learning material for students of any ability. I am an experienced marker of A level and GCSE papers and so can advise students how to approach exam questions. I very passionate about my subject and believe that every student can achieve their target grade with the right help.
Presently I am a Teacher of Chemistry at an independent school in Leicestershire. As a teacher of Chemistry, I have taught across all key stages from KS3 up to KS5. I have taught triple Chemistry for 18 years as well as Y12 for 18 years and Y13 for 15 years. I am currently teaching Edexcel iGCSE Chemistry to Y10 and Y11 and the OCR specification to Y12 and Y13, although I have tutored other A level and GCSE students from other syllabuses. I was responsible for the ISA marking for Y11, Y12 and Y13 for several years and I now teach PAG lessons to Y12 and Y13 as part of the practical OCR course. I also run tutorials, workshops and revision lessons for Y11, Y12 and Y13 students and have done this again, for many years. I was also Head of Year for 4 years.
I have produced resources for all of my lessons, including powerpoints, Word documents, worksheets and exam-style questions.
Because of my experience in industry I have hands-on knowledge of proton and carbon NMR Spectroscopy, Infra-red Spectroscopy, UV-Visible Spectroscopy, Gas Chromatography, TLC and HPLC techniques.

Availability: I am available at weekends and most week days in the evening after 6pm

Experience: I have taught Key Stage 3 Science and GCSE Chemistry and A-level Chemistry for the last 18 years.
The syallbuses I have taught are OCR A-level, Edexcel iGCSE, Edexcel GCSE and OCR GCSE. I have taught the Exploring Science syllabus at Key Stage 3. I have taught students with many different abilities over the years, helping each one of them reach their potential. I have always been able to tailor my teaching to the needs of my students as I am aware that we all learning in different ways and at different paces. With the right level of support through my bespoke learning material, I feel anyone can reach their goals. I have just recently gone part time which now allows me to spend more time focusing on my tutoring of students.
I graduated in Chemistry from Newcastle University with a First Class Honors Degree. I then studied for my PhD in synthetic organic chemistry at Newcastle University before moving to Italy to do a post-doctoral position at the University of Bologna. I then returned to the UK to do another post-doc at the University of York. I then started my industrial career as a research chemist, which I pursued until I qualified as a teacher in 2005.
