Information about Neil
After earning my degree in Business and Finance, I spent a year working at an accountancy firm. This experience was invaluable for understanding workplace dynamics, collaborating with colleagues, and gaining insight into the business world.
In 2004, seeking a new adventure and to step out of my comfort zone, I moved to China for one and a half years. This decision fostered my independence and introduced me to teaching in a large Chinese public school. With no prior teaching experience, I quickly adapted to managing classrooms of approximately 80 students. I developed strong interpersonal skills, acted as a positive role model, and built meaningful connections with students despite the unfamiliar culture and language. This experience helped me mature and broadened my multicultural perspective.
Upon returning to England, I realized my passion for teaching English as a second language. In 2008, I moved to Thailand to pursue this career. I enjoyed the creativity and independence it offered, designing engaging lessons and teaching with confidence. During my two years at a Thai Christian school, I discovered an exciting opportunity to co-found a language school.
In 2009, I collaborated with a former flight attendant to establish Perfect Angels, an English language school. We focused on shaping students personalities, encouraging positive communication, and fostering confidence, particularly for aspiring flight attendants. As the business grew, I took on leadership responsibilities, including recruitment and managing operations. I remained with the company for 11 years until 2020.
When COVID-19 impacted the business in 2020, I transitioned back to high school teaching, joining Bangkok Christian College to teach English to Grades 7-9. This role reignited my passion for classroom interaction and supporting students in improving their language skills.
In 2022, I pursued a Masters Degree in Education at Framingham State University, Massachusetts. The program provided a comprehensive understanding of educational practices, introducing me to new research, fostering discussions with peers, and enabling me to apply insights directly to the classroom.
In 2024, I returned to the UK to further my career, and become a trainee Business Studies teacher. I taught GCSE, A-Level, and BTEC classes, using the AQA syllabus. This role allows me to combine my teaching expertise with my business knowledge, delivering engaging and impactful lessons.
I have done some volunteer work in a primary school and will train as a primary teacher from September 2025.
On a personal note, I am a father of two young children. Being a parent inspires me to be a positive role model, fostering open communication and providing guidance to ensure my children feel supported and valued.
