Information about Elizabeth
I am adaptable, flexible and deliver learning specific to the needs of the learner. Being a parent myself I can empathize with the pressures and strains that today`s society places on our young people and hope that being able to differentiate my teaching, learners can and do achieve.
Availability: Evenings and weekends - one to one or on-line
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Pre-children I have had a varied career; from PA/Secretarial, motorbike sponsorship, working in a Bank and being a Financial Advisor.
Since having children of my own, I stumbled into working at a local Primary School and soon found that my heart lie within education and I have self-researched all of my own further education in this area.
Having progressed through all of the Key Stages of school from Primary through to High School, College and I am now an English and Maths Tutor with a private training provider supporting work based learning Apprentices to achieve their Functional Skills Maths and English at either Level 1 or Level 2. I also hold the position of Designated Safeguarding Officer.
With extensive experience of phonetic learning for the younger learner or adult learners returning to their studies who find reading and writing challenging, patience and differentiation are key to success; boosting the learner`s self-esteem and confidence to believe in themselves that they can, and will succeed.
I have had several years experience working within KS3 and KS4; supporting learners of all abilities in mastering English and preparing them for examinations. This continues in my current role now working with adult learners who, for whatever reason, found success during their school years difficult to achieve.
A further area of expertise was putting together and delivering a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for my Dissertation Case Study. It concentrated on teenagers with low mood and depression (but can easily be adapted to accommodate all age groups).
