Information about Jaspreet
I graduated from UCL in 2006 with a 2:1 in Mathematics and Astronomy.
From 2006 to 2018 I have been working in the finance division of some of the top investment banks in London (Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Nomura). I have left banking to start a family and I am now looking forward to pursuing my love of teaching and Mathematics.
Growing up, I really enjoyed Mathematics, so I worked hard to obtain the top grades in the subject. I know through experience that Maths, when taught well is not as hard as it appears to be, for example, there is a lot of repetition and the concepts taught are generally intuitive. This is particularly true at GCSE level.
As a tutor my main aim is to get my students to enjoy Maths, which shouldn`t be too hard as it really is a beautiful subject! I aim to do this by;
1) breaking down tricky concepts and making them easier to understand
2) linking topics to strengthen and reinforce what has been taught
3) providing a link between teaching materials and everyday examples so students can see maths at work in the world around them
As there is no substitute for practice, I therefore I will work with students to ensure they get through plenty of questions, this is the only way to be sure topics are sinking in.
I am only taking on students for GCSE maths, this will allow me to provide focused teaching on the topics which I find most enjoyable. My rates reflect the fact that I am starting off in the Tuition space, I hope you will choose me to go get you through your Maths GCSEs!
