Information about Ben
I am a graduate of the University of Glasgow, now working as a business consultant. I am based in Hillhead and the Southside, but I can drive to other locations around the city and outskirts.
I gained my secondary education at one of Scotland`s best schools St Aloysius` College, Glasgow, where I achieved:
8As/1s at Intermediate 2 and Standard Grade
5As at Higher
2As at Advanced Higher.
I have come from a teaching family and I have tutored more than 60 students across Glasgow over the last 4 years. I am very approachable and easy to talk to, and I have a lot of patience with students.
I teach:
National 5
Higher
Advanced Higher
Support with CVs, UCAS statements and Job Applications
My goal is to make quick, noticeable improvements in students to get them to the stage where they are confident to work independently prior to examinations.
Folio - English portfolio work is exceptionally important (30% of final grade). If needed, I take a hands on approach to Creative/Reflective and Discursive/Persuasive essays to ensure the student maximises their chances of achieving an A in this part of the course.
My teaching method involves assessing a students ability, pin-pointing key areas for improvement, and devising a simple solution.
English in particular, is a lot more formulaic than many think, and I believe I can teach this in a way that even those who struggle with English can understand.
I welcome any questions, so please feel free to contact me by email or telephone where we can arrange a free consultation.
Availability: Weeknights Monday to Thursday.
All day Sunday.
Willing to travel: 50 miles
Experience: I have tutored students in the south side of Glasgow for the last 4 years with excellent success.
I tutor students across a mix of abilities. Many of my students are students who are strong in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) but struggle in English and the Arts.
Others are students with dyslexia who benefit from my tailored teaching plan.
Others again, are students who are well performing but wish to aim for band 1 grades in order to achieve entry into Dentistry, Medicine or Oxbridge.

Ben has been superb. Friendly and approachable and has a great way with my twins who have differing needs from their tutor
Would highly recommend him to anyone
