Information about Helen
I have recently moved to Portsmouth and am happy to welcome students into my home as well as to travel to you. I am a parent of 22 year-old twins and prior to teaching enjoyed a career as a BBC journalist and a leader in the voluntary sector.
Availability: I am available evenings and weekends and all day Mondays and Fridays and during the school holidays.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have been teaching in a range of capacities for a number of years. I am a qualified Primary School teacher experienced in tutoring maths, English and reading and preparation for SATs exams. I have an excellent track record in preparing children for entrance exams. I have a degree in English and Spanish and have recent experience of preparing students for GCSE and A level oral and written exams. I am also a qualified teacher of English as a Foreign (second) Language, able to teach children and adults.

We had two lessons with Helen. Helen excels as a general English teacher, but we had a specific request and it seemed to us that Helene was not sufficiently prepared, with the result that my daughter was bored during the lessons and refused to have any other. Nevertheless, this does not call into question Helen`s qualities as a teacher. I would rather consider making greater use of her expertise for children whose first language is English.

We did not have many sessions with Helen because my child`s requirements changed but she was a kind, gentle tutor; what we needed at the time for a slightly under-confident child.
