My name is Juan, an English-Spanish (both Mexican and International variant) translator, game localizer and former tutor from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. I am currently an LQA tester for Alpha CRC here in Cambridge, UK. I am writing because I would like to offer you my translation experience for the teaching and researcher position you have in your hands.

WHY ME? I have experience with Alpha CRC as an LQA tester proofreading a famous e-commerce page and doing LQA testing. Therefore, you can be sure I am suitable for this job as I have on-hands experience in the testing and translation areas!

As for translation, I have experience with many companies (please see my resume), being the most important Jagex, with whom I was about to work in-house, but a personal situation prevented me from travelling to Cambridge in early 2013. Since then, I have tried to work in the video game localization area, and, while I like the job I have, I would like to have the experience of working in-house in a more video games-related job.

Experience: As for teaching and research, I also have some experience: I was an entry-level Italian culture and grammar tutor at Universidad Central de Venezuela from 2011 to 2013, when the political situation in my country made me go to England. Before that, I had been a translation tutor for the Instituto Universitario Americo Vespuci, where I would teach translation in the tourism and international affairs areas. In this latter, I had to create part of the curriculum for last year students, and had to teach a totally brand new module. Therefore, I have the experience both teaching and preparing modules that you might need for this.

I also have had some tutored dissertations for Universidad Central de Venezuela. I am currently doing my Master’s degree and will start doing my research on transcreation for video games, films, comics and Mangas. So, I think my research line will be on the media translation and the transcreation!
