Information about Natalie
Experienced and qualified secondary science teacher and examiner with 18 years experience teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics to GCSE. I have also privately tutored for some years, specialising in Biology OCR A Level. I am also a parent and understand the need for personalised teaching when your child is not understanding a subject in class. I aim to build confidence in exam technique and also restore a love of the subject for students who may feel overwhelmed. I have had very good results over the years with pupils across the ability range. It is just as important to improve to a grade 8/9 as it is to gain a hard fought grade 5 for college entry.
**Please note before sending me an enquiry that I teach from my home only and my prices are competitively set to reflect this. For the academic year of 2020 I am tutoring online only until further notice.
Availability: I am fully booked for this academic year
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have worked in a variety of schools in Gloucestershire since gaining my PGCE in 2002. I have taught mostly AQA Science at GCSE level and I have 3 years experience teaching and examining the new 9-1 course. I am familiar with all of the required practicals that students need to learn for this course. I have also taught Edexcel at GCSE level and OCR at A Level Biology. My first degree is in Psychology and Biology from Liverpool John Moores University (2001).
As a full-time teacher I had responsibility for developing KS3 schemes of work including assessments and also KS4 Biology assessments. I have extensive experience setting and marking exam papers and work as an examiner for two GCSE exam boards.
In 2018 I worked as a tutor at Pates Grammar School in Cheltenham, helping small groups of Y11 and Y13 students achieve their best possible grades in the science subjects that they find most challenging.
I now work in an alternative provision hospital school, tutoring science at GCSE and A Level Biology to students who are unable to attend school due to mental health reasons.
