Information about Aaliyah
I am a hardworking and dedicated individual who trained in 2020/2021 to become a teacher. I am currently working as an EHCP Coordinator for a local authority. I am also a punctual and confident person who completed a Popular Music degree at the University of Essex and was awarded a 2:1 grade following a background of studying music and performing arts.
My previous roles, both in primary and secondary school environments have allowed me to gain in-depth experience when delivering / planning lessons for differing key stages and learning requirements - I fully agree with and apply equal opportunities to any of my work and ensure that this is notable in the way I teach. When working as a SEN Teaching Assistant & Cover Supervisor within a secondary school, I was primarily based in the speech and language department. This included working with the children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to focus on their personal educational targets and interventions where required.
During my time within the secondary school roles, I completed a sports leaders course and a level one gymnastics coaching qualification which allowed me to develop my knowledge further when teaching specialist and physically demanding lessons to children between the ages of 4-16 years. This developed a high level of communication skill, initiative and teamwork from myself due to the terminologies and techniques used in this area and having to deliver this information to the aforementioned age range.
My job role as a Music Teacher at Rocksteady Music School included traveling to two or more primary schools throughout the working day to deliver music lessons utilising various instruments in preparation for termly concerts that were displayed to the parents. This required an immense amount of planning and adhering to deadlines ; a working environment in which I thrive. A key element of this role was that is allowed me to encourage creative expression from the children through a shared enjoyment of music.
Outside of my previous roles, I have also delivered private tutoring sessions for children (in all key stages) wishing to develop their skills with a particular musical instrument or with Maths and English. From this, I have received only positive feedback from all parents and children who have requested additional tutoring. This is another example of my passion for helping students to reach and exceed their full educational / creative potential.
