Since recently graduating from Trinity College, University of Cambridge with a Starred First Class degree (top 4% of year) in Modern and Medieval Languages (specialising in Literature and Film), I have been tutoring many students in a variety of subjects. I have taught students at all levels, including primary, key stage 3, GCSE, A-level and Adult Learners.

I love teaching and helping students to gain confidence in their chosen subject. My favourite moment is when a student says something insecure like ‘I don’t know the answer, is it this?’ and I get to say ‘Well you do know the answer then!’

My approach is:

FLEXIBLE:
My teaching method involves working out the students’ likes and dislikes, their strengths and weaknesses, and using them to adapt my teaching style. An approach that works for one student won’t necessarily work for another and I think it is very important to communicate with a student in the way that will be the most effective and interesting for them.

CREATIVE:
One of my main skills is being able to make a game out of anything. In fact, one of my learning games has been published in an official Study Guide! I think a playful feeling is so important, for both adults and children, and also one of the most effective ways to learn: without even realising, people end up setting goals that they really want to achieve because they’ve become so interested in their subject. I want my sessions to feel energising rather than tiring. I want my students to feel motivated rather than frustrated. The more a student enjoys the learning, the more progress they make!

ORGANISED:
I dedicate time to making thorough lesson plans and resources that are tailored to the student’s needs. I also facilitate an honest environment where the student and I can keep an open dialogue: I can provide thorough feedback and the student (or the student`s guardian) can be honest about what is and isn’t working for them, so that I can quickly implement any necessary changes.
