Hello, my name is Nerissa

I am a qualified and experienced Primary school teacher currently teaching in Year 1, with previous experience teaching in Year 2, 4 and 5. I am also the Phonics Lead in my school, where I support the teaching and development of early reading and phonics across the school. This has given me extensive experience in helping children build strong foundations in reading, spelling and early literature.
I am passionate about helping children build confidence in their learning to reach their full potential. I focus on making learning fun, interactive and meaningful using a range of strategies to help children understand concepts clearly while developing their confidence in reading, writing and maths.

I understand that each child’s learning journey is unique, and I really enjoy helping children see that everything is POSSIBLE and to help them find that learning can be fun.

Experience: I have taught, observed, assisted and trained within a variety of schools, including mainstream and independent, and a variety of year groups and key stages, including Reception (EYFS), KS1 (Year 1 and Year 2) and KS2 (Year 4 and Year 5).
I have a PGCE from the University of Roehampton.
I have a Masters degree from the University of Greenwich.
I have a BA degree from the University of Greenwich.
