Isaac

Hi,

I am looking for a patient and experienced GCSE Maths and/or English tutor for my son Isaac, who is almost 18 and currently attending college.

Isaac has an EHCP and additional learning needs. He struggles with working memory, processing information, retention, understanding instructions and independent study. He benefits from information being broken down into small, clear steps with repetition, visual support and regular checking of understanding.

Although Isaac works hard and engages well in structured environments, he finds it very difficult to independently organise revision, retain information and apply learning without guided support. Confidence is also a significant factor for him academically, particularly in Maths and English.

I am specifically looking for someone with experience supporting students with SEND, including learning difficulties, processing difficulties, dyslexia traits, possible autism traits and low academic confidence.

The right tutor for Isaac would need to:
- be calm, patient and encouraging
- understand that progress may be slower and require repetition
- use structured, step-by-step teaching methods
- help build confidence alongside academic skills
- adapt learning to suit his processing and retention difficulties
- ideally link learning to practical or real-life situations where possible

At this stage, I am not looking for high-pressure tutoring focused purely on passing exams quickly. My priority is helping Isaac genuinely understand, retain and build confidence in the core skills he is struggling with.
