Information about Sam
I have taught maths, physics, chemistry and biology at a secondary school in Oxted whilst training for the PGCE teaching qualification in Physics with Maths from Sep`15 to Feb`16. I stopped after my first school placement because I found that teachers were asked to do too many things without the time to do them which conflicts with my personality.
Generally I am a very patient person and enjoy helping people learn new skills. I also coach and play a lot of table tennis and chess.
I believe that learning happens when you are challenged and have to struggle to find an answer, so I help students to work out problems for themselves, providing appropriate scaffolding and questioning to guide the student in the right direction and lead them through key concepts. Whilst on my teacher training course I was consistently told that my questioning is excellent, my explanations are very clear and that I have a very calm, warm and patient disposition.
