Information about Julia
I have tutored GCSE and A-Level Geography students since 2012 with great success. I have helped the majority of students I have worked with to improve their predicted grades by two grades. I have tutored across all exam boards and have strong knowledge across all areas of Geography. I am sure I will be able to help you!
I have a passion for teaching and for learning within the Geography discipline. My enthusiasm for the subject was ignited by my own Geography teacher at secondary school. I studied Geography at A-Level and went on to study Geography and Archaeology at the University of Manchester, where I was awarded a 2:1. I then studied an MSc in Geoarchaeology at the University of Reading, where I was awarded a Merit. After a few years working in sales, I then did my PhD in Physical Geography (specifically palaeoecology) at the University of Gloucestershire. Since completing my PhD, I have worked with students in a variety of roles including as a Biosciences Technician Demonstrator, where I supported dissertation students as well as assisting on field trips and as a Teaching Fellow in Physical Geography at the University of Hull.
I am currently working as a Geography Supply Teacher in Secondary Schools across Gloucestershire, Brisol and Wiltshire before starting teacher training in September 2019, for which I have been awarded a scholarship by the Royal Geographical Society.
During my time as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Hull, I learnt a lot about the best teaching methods and how to explain complex ideas in an interesting and exciting way.
I hope you will consider me for your Geography tutoring needs - I would be delighted to help you!
