Information about Lucy

I completed my undergraduate degree in Physics at Warwick University and achieved a First in my integrated masters.
I did A levels in Maths, Physics, Further Maths and Chemistry and achieved A* grades in all of them. I also received the award for getting the best results in my college of roughly 2500 students.

I am competent to tutor in Maths and Physics up to and including A level. I can also offer tutoring for Physics at degree level. I am very enthusiastic about these subjects and hope to be able to pass on my enthusiasm to students, either those who are struggling or those who just want to take what they are learning at school/college further.

I can also assist people who want to make sure their subject knowledge and skills are ready for the next stage of their education. Whether it is the jump from GCSEs to A-levels, or A-levels to degrees, I can help you bridge the gap.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: At college I was a helper in the Maths workshop which meant that during my lunchtimes I would help other students who were struggling with their Maths A level. I also used to be an assistant leader of a drama club, teaching children from 5-13 the theory and techniques involved in theatre.

I have volunteered for the TeamUp charity, going into a school (Nuneaton Academy) and tutoring small groups of children at GCSE level in Science and Maths. Through this programme I was trained to create and carry out stimulating tuition sessions, communicate difficult concepts and work with others to promote learning across the school I was in.

As a PhD student, I have worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This involves running problems classes for undergraduate students, marking work, and demonstrating labs.

I have been tutoring privately for three years now.

Lucy has been a great tutor for Matthew. She’s made a big difference to his learning and his understanding of particle physics. She explains things clearly and has been a fantastic motivational influence.

Helpful with whatever is required, problems or any issues are explained clearly and most importantly what I found useful was it was very quick and easy to follow. On time, friendly, amazing depth of knowledge for maths, really really helped to build my confidence and fill in any gaps.
