Information about Emily
I am very enthusiastic about Maths and Computer programming and enjoy passing this knowledge to others.
I have had vast experience in training people throughout my working life and I feel I can offer a different perspective on the subject than a person working in the teaching profession.
I have helped students to become much more confident with numbers. I look to understand the areas where the individual is struggling and establish how the individual prefers to learn. I can then use this to provide appropriate examples so that they can make sense of the subject.
Availability: Fairly flexible, I can work weekdays and weekends. My hours depend on working around my young children and my husbands shift pattern.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I studied Maths up to degree level and worked for 10 years as a data analyst eventually managing the department. This involved advanced Excel and programming skills and training staff, particularly graduates when they joined the company.
I started my own training and consultancy company and completed a PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) course, which helped me to understand the different ways people learn.
I have 4 years experience tutoring from KS1 right up to A level and also have experience helping students who have dyslexia/dyscalculia.
