Currently on a sabbatical from 3 years of data consulting work, helping teams understand how to analyse data. My background before this was in Physics at a Masters degree level and teaching Science up to GCSE level.

Experience: Fully qualified Teacher having completed the TeachFirst programme. I taught science and specialised in Physics for GCSE students.

After graduating, before working as a teacher I tutored maths to secondary school students part time.

I always find out from the student why they feel stuck on a particular problem/topic before diving into tutoring- this helps me understand how they may have gotten stuck/confused. I then follow this up with tasks that build confidence in their related/precursor numeracy skills, before reaching the task that the session is focussed on, ensuring that new or incorrect knowledge is explained or corrected through further tasks.
