Information about Patricia
I am a highly professional, motivated and successful teacher with 40 years experience. I retired from full time Education in July 2013 but still feel that I want to help young people achieve the best they can. One to one tutoring is ideal for meeting the specific needs of the learner and probably more importantly to build their confidence.
Availability: Preferably weekends.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: For the last 33 years I have been teaching Science in the secondary sector. I have taught combined science at KS3 level, additional applied science at KS4 and Biology to GCSE and Advanced level. I have had Senior Leadership roles as Second in the Science Department and as Head of Year.I have been an examiner for KS3 Science and KS4 Biology. I have experience of one to one tutoring in Science and English with children with special needs. I have also had experience of tutoring students in Biology at GCSE and Advanced level.

Patricia has been very helpful to Oscar with Biology for the past few months. Patricia is punctual, organised and most importantly, with very clear explanations that makes easy to understand. Patricia is a very professional and reliable tutor. She has been tutoring my daughter all the way from GCSE to A-level biology through the Covid pandemic. In GCSEs my daughter went from a grade 5 and hating the subject to a 9 and loving it in just a few months of Patricia tutoring her. She now also achieved an A* in A-levels. Patricia knows the course inside out and always pushed my daughter to achieve her best. My daughter said that her explanations for topics were always clear and if she didn’t understand something straight away then Patricia would persevere and take a different approach until she does. She was always a pleasure to see on weekly basis and would always goes beyond what’s asked of her and it’s clear that she truly cares about her students and wants them to achieve their best. Through the course of her tutoring, she adapted different teaching styles which best suited Leena, which were different for various topics. In addition, Leena struggled with exam technique the most which Patricia was clear in changing. We had many tutors for various subjects in the past, but none as hard working, clear in their explanations and genuinely caring as Patricia, which is why I would recommend her for anyone looking for a biology tutor!
