I am an Oxford graduate who spent most of his career working in the Civil Service.

All my life my main intellectual interest has been in languages. So on retirement I decided to train as a teacher of English as a foreign language (TEFL), which I have been doing since 2009. I have the Cambridge CELTA Certificate. In addition to General English, I teach quite a lot of Business English.

My main foreign language is German in which I have the Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom (near native standard)from the Goethe Institut.

I am an enthusiastic teacher and get a lot of positive feedback (mostly!). While my main experience is in English, I have started to give private tuition in German, again with positive feedback.

Availability: Flexible. I would normally be able to give lessons on weekday afternoons or evenings or at mutually convenient times at the weekend.

Experience: Over six years` teaching in language schools. I teach a mixture of General English and Business English. A significant proportion of teaching hours is spent giving private tuition either for Cambridge exams or to help European students with their Abitur/Matura.

I have recently begun giving private lessons in German.
