I have worked as a Teaching Fellow in English Literature at the University of Surrey, specialising in Contemporary Literature, Theories and American Literature. I have also worked at the University of Southampton teaching Academic Skills to Pre-sessional International students about to embark on postgraduate study. Currently I run my own online tutoring platform for English Literature and Language. I am also academic lead on a summer school at the University of Surrey.

I have a PhD in English Literature and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I also have a Masters with Distinction in English Literature and a BA with First Class Honours in the same subject, from the University of Surrey.

I am extremely passionate about Literature and believe that through my enthusiasm and technical understanding of the subject, I am able to provide struggling students with the skills they need to improve their grades.

I find that the best approach to teaching a child is to adapt learning methods to suit their needs, as each will require help in different areas. I will assess their ability in the first session to check what they already know and what needs to be worked on.

As a young graduate, I feel I am able to teach in a friendly and informal manner that enables students to feel at ease and able to voice their opinions and concerns regarding their studies. Unlike the classroom environment, through one-on-one tuition they are able to discuss ideas without reservation which I find, when combined with working on their essay and exam performance, noticeably increases their confidence and grades.

I also offer support with the Verbal, Non-verbal and Decision Making elements of the UKCAT as well as section 3 of the BMAT exams for medical students.

Experience: I have been tutoring for nine years and have helped my students achieve their desired grades. I have taught KS3, KS4 and adult learners and have experience of teaching from the following exam boards: AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and Cambridge. I have also taught the new GCSE system (grades 1-9) to a number of students.
