I have a PhD in Chemistry, a teacher qualified status and I am also DBS checked. I currently work as Second in Department in a sixth form (Ofsted Outstanding), leading A- Level Chemistry. I am well versed in teaching both the OCR and AQA syllabi and I have done this for more than 15 years. I am very experienced in identifying gaps and areas where students struggle and therefore tailor my tutoring to their abilities and understanding. I also make sure that misconceptions are addressed and that students can use their knowledge to apply in unfamiliar situations. In 2020, I was awarded a CsiTeach, a chartered mark which indicates excellence in science teaching and learning.

In my previous career, I have been a research scientist and I have a lot of experience using techniques such as NMR, IR and TOF Mass Spec. (things which students struggle to understand at A Levels).
I have a range of ready made resources which students can use to support their learning including two apps on the Apple App Store, which are designed to support mole calculation practice at GCSE and A Level. These have proved invaluable especially to address gaps in knowledge. The Chemistry department I led in my previous school is amongst the top in Norfolk and top 10% schools in the country, as far as A-Level results are concerned.

Availability: Week days and weekends after school hours. However, I may be more flexible and please discuss with me for availability.
