Niamh

Hi I am Niamh. I am a currently studying a PhD in the field of biological sciences at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I am an experienced tutor and have mentored both A level and graduate students. I liaise closely with Christ the King Sixth Form College and have worked there as a directed study coordinator. I have an active approach to teaching and learning and believe that students need to gain knowledge, apply knowledge and then practice knowledge and understanding.

My tutorials are very active, I facilitate students learning by firstly checking prior knowledge and ensuring that they progress by using structured episodes of learning and different types of resources to inspire and motivate them and encourage them to become independent learners. I assess there progress in learning and give constructive feedback to develop strategies to move their learning forward.

Availability: I am available weekday evenings from 6pm and most weekends. Other times may be available on request.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: During my undergraduate degree I volunteered with a company called `Heart Start` teaching basic first aid to a range of age groups, including primary school and sixth form students.
Whilst carrying out my PhD I have trained a number of masters and undergraduate students in laboratory techniques. D
