Information about Igor
Currently at Cambridge University as a 1st year undergraduate studying Engineering, I have worked as a KS3, GCSE and A-Level tutor for the past few years. I am very passionate about engineering and the science/maths it involves and already have many stories to tell to engage whoever I teach!
I received A*A*A*A* in the new, reformed linear A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and also have A*s in these subjects at GCSE. I also achieved 94% in the FSMQ Additional Maths qualification, and was awarded gold awards in both Maths and Chemistry Olympiads.
Outside of academia, I am a college level rower and tennis player and love the buzz of being out and about. I am also diploma standard on the cello.
Availability: Other than my current tutor cohort, I am generally available.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have been working as a tutor for many years, with both local and international students. It is a pleasure to see the improvements I am able to help the students realise.
I am also an accredited tennis coach, and therefore have years of coaching experience with children of ages 3-18. This has given me a very strong foundation in how to best deliver lessons for each student, employing flexibility and developing confidence amongst my students.
As a tutor, I value the importance of cultivating a genuine interest in the topic. But ultimately for students directly working towards public exams, a focused knowledge-set built on the relevant specification is required. I work with students to ensure they have a full understanding and complete knowledge required of them.
At the end of every lesson, I review the content of that lesson and do the same at the start of the next lesson. This gives plenty of chance for questions to be asked. I also take the chance to do a mini-quiz every few lessons to map progress and do on-going assessment of the strengths/weaknesses of the student.
