Information about Sue
Whether we like it or not, most jobs require a certain level in English and Maths. For a Maths and Sciences focussed student, English can be a real problem. But later in life they will have to read articles and analyse them and write reports or papers to raise their profile. It is essential, therefore to have a good grounding in English and a grade in the GCSE exams that reflects that.
If you think your assessed grades for GCSE are going to be too low, you are probably going to be able to take exams later in the year - do not lose momentum by having so much time off school without keeping up the studying. It is the students who focus and work hard who will be rewarded in the end.
For non-native speakers:
Working or studying in this country, speaking and writing is necessary to ensure you are correctly understood. If you are planning to study and need exam passes for this, I can help.
Availability: Negotiable - weekdays and weekends slots currently available
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Teaching for about 20 years, private tutor for last 7 years. As a private tutor, for the first 2 years I worked on a referral basis only. This has proved to be very successful, so I decided to dedicate more time to the tutoring. I now have students working towards the GCSE over 2 years (including continuing through the summer) and I am no longer employed by a school.
I also work through an agency offering tutoring to students at all levels, including SEN and excluded students.
If there are groups of students who wish to work together, I am happy to do group classes at the weekends. The price of Groups lessons are negotiable depending on numbers and levels.
August 2021 - after having stopped teaching because of the Pandemic, I began again earlier this year and have had some good results in this years exams and in the progress at KS3
August 2019 Update - 12 students taking GCSE this year - some excellent results - a couple of students stopped the lessons a little early. AQA Language Paper 2 Q5 was writing a letter. The lessons just prior to the exam - I showed them how to structure and layout a letter - few young people have ever written a letter - how lucky was that?
AUGUST 2018 UPDATE - Great results from my students - some very happy people out there.
AUGUST 2017 UDATE
GCSE results: In the GCSE English Language and Literature papers this summer one student who was graded E at the beginning of the year obtained a B in Language and a C in Literature - really excellent improvement. Another student after only 4 weeks with me, improved from a C to an A in both exams - brilliant!! I am so proud of them making such good progress!

Feedback For Sue (11)

Sue has been a great tutor. From the very beginning we felt at ease with her and really enjoyed being with her. During our short trip to Bournemouth, we met up to talk and she would pick up mistakes and correct and explain them. Her feedback was of great benefit for us and we still remember her explanations. We`d love to meet her more often!

Very happy with Sue. She knows how to bring the best out when it comes to teaching my 9 year old son and he actually enjoys the lesson. He finds it fun and stimulating unlike his lesson at school. Sue is professional, friendly and courteous and I can thoroughly recommend her.
