Information about Lorenzo
I am a second year PhD student at UCL in theoretical physics.
I got both my bachelor in Physics and master in theoretical physics at the university of Bologna (Italy) (both passed with the maximum grade 110/110 cum laude).
I got a master research at UCL two years ago (passed with distinction) about a particular area of physics: quantum information. The name of the programme is "Delivering quantum technologies".
I am a reliable guy and willing to listen to any necessities.
Teaching approach:
I think that the best way to teach something is by making the pupils enjoy the topic. The beauty is present in every subject and I think that the best way to motivate a student is to communicate him my passion. They need to feel that what they are doing is "special" and so worthwhile. A well motivated student can reach any goal, even the most ambitious. In concrete terms I think that as a tutor I need to make the tutoring session entertaining and also communicate tenacity, constancy and the importance of every detail. I am flexible and I think I can meet the necessities of many different kinds of pupil.
Availability: I am available during the whole week at any time. However I would prefer on Sundays or late evening/early morning.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: ♣ 2015, Private tutoring to a a third year university student preparing for an exam on advanced quantum mechanics.
♣ 2015, Private tutoring to a high school student studying GCSE (Edexcel - science course, physics)
♣ While in Italy I gave a series of one-off tutoring sessions to high school students.
♣ In Italy I was a boy scout leader for 5 years. As a result I gained mentoring experience working with children aged 8-17 years old.
♣ Starting from this academic year I have been teaching the turorial sessions for the course of mathematical methods III to second year undergraduates students of the physics degree.
