Information about Lefteris

Hello there! I`m Lefteris, a highly experienced online maths tutor specialising in KS3 and GCSE levels. Whether you`re just starting out or aiming for advanced proficiency, I`m here to help you unlock your mathematical potential and achieve outstanding results. With a strong academic background, including a BSc in Maths and an MSc in Statistics, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my teaching.

With over 5 years of teaching experience and more than 1000 hours of successful tutoring, I am currently the Head of Year 8 at a reputable secondary school in Walthamstow. This role has given me an in-depth understanding of the curriculum and the ability to tailor my lessons to meet the specific needs of each student. I am also skilled in working with EAL students and those who face learning difficulties, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Beyond my passion for teaching I love exercising, traveling, watching movies, walking my dog, and spending quality time with friends.

In terms of work ethic, I operate with integrity, diligence, and perseverance. I am committed to continuous professional development, with the ultimate goal of providing high-quality teaching. I am genuinely passionate about what I do, and I have a proven track record of helping students achieve remarkable improvements in their maths abilities. As an educator, my aim is to support my students in developing their identities, becoming well-rounded and educated individuals who are equipped to overcome challenges and seize opportunities for a successful future. Driven by my passion and devotion to my role, I have successfully assisted many students in achieving their targets, gaining admission to colleges of their preference, and pursuing their dreams.

I emphasise the importance of building a good rapport with my students and establishing relationships based on mutual respect and trust. In my classes, every student is encouraged to express themselves, and my lessons are tailored to appeal to students with different learning styles. Drawing from a wide range of resources, I prepare customised lessons to meet the specific needs of my students. As a snapshot of my teaching approach, when introducing a new topic, I provide step-by-step guidance using scaffolding techniques and through the use of appropriate formative assessment I aim to gauge misconception and help my students comprehend the key concepts. Subsequently, I gradually increase the level of difficulty in independent tasks to challenge and unlock their full potential. Towards the end of each teaching unit, I incorporate exam-style questions and a summative assessment to consolidate learning and optimise attainment.

However, acquiring knowledge does not necessarily translate to the ability to recall and apply it when needed. Therefore, revisiting learned material plays a crucial role. Consequently, I consistently employ two memory-enhancing techniques: interleaving and repeated retrieval.

In conclusion, with the use of cutting-edge technology and interactive software, my vision is to deliver engaging lessons that provide a unique educational experience. Let`s explore the exciting world of mathematics in a fun and interactive way!

Spot-on teaching and deep dive in demanding topics. Helped me immensely with my revision ahead of my mocks. Mr Lef has a wide bank of resources and his teaching is very versatile and engaging. Touched different topics and helped me to understand how they tie in together. Never got bored.

Loved that lesson! Mr Lefteris is very passionate with strong subject knowledge. He tried to explain things in different ways until he found one to suit me and comprehend the topic. I felt very comfortable throughout the lesson and was prompted to ask as many questions as possible to cover misconception and existed weaknesses. I was struggling to work out questions on simultaneous equations. After two lessons on this topic and a range of different examples I feel much more confident and ready to take on work independently. Thank you!!
