Information about Alex
Hi I am Alex, a retired teacher and lecturer. I have a wealth of experience in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering. I am a past private tutor who now having retired feel I have a lot to offer to students who are embarking on or are part way through their A levels.
Alex
Availability: Monday , Tuesday and Thursday evening.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have a PhD in Applied Mathematics and a 1`st Class Honours in Mathematics. In addition I have been a Principal Examiner for Cambridge University and was involved in the writing of examination papers for the overseas students of Cambridge University. In addition I have been a Senior Examiner for both Edexcel and AQA in the marking of A level Pure Maths and Mechanics.
Although now retired from teaching I have a wealth of experience teaching at a 6`th Form College, a Further Education College and the Open University. After many years of teaching I am aware of the many problems that students have from lack of confidence to being "frightened" of Mathematics. I see it as my task to surmount such difficulties for the student.
As part of the tuition process it is important to keep pace and reinforce the content of the syllabus the student is currently exposed to and to push them into understanding any new concepts.
