Information about Chloe

I am graduate of Oxford (History) and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (Acting). I have a real love for my subjects, and for helping young people to grow their engagement and their thinking. For the last few years I have worked as an actor and as a tutor. In my most recent job, playing Sheila in the National Theatre’s acclaimed production of ‘An Inspector Calls’, I was able to engage with students studying the text for GCSE, giving interviews and post-show talks, and sometimes going into schools. Sadly this has ended prematurely due to Covid-19 so I am now looking to up my tutoring work!

WHAT DO I OFFER?
I offer tailored tuition in History and English Literature for primary and secondary school students, and support in university applications and personal statements, particularly Oxbridge interviews and aptitude tests for History. I can also support undergraduates and adult learners with study structure and with honing essay writing. For younger pupils, I offer a broader range of subjects, including art, science and geography at a primary school level. As a trained actor, I also offer support to those interested in drama, whether as a hobby, a vehicle for personal growth, a tool to develop confidence or public speaking – or to those considering a career in this highly competitive industry. An insider`s experience can be incredibly useful for auditions. I generally tutor one on one but am more than happy to work with small groups if you have friends or siblings that might like to study together.

MY ETHOS
I am a great believer that our education and the tools we learn in school are invaluable in the wider world and for personal growth - they are about much more than passing an exam. That said, as someone who has benefited from a fantastic education at Oxford, I am also a believer in jumping through those hoops where necessary, and working to secure those exam results in order to open future doors. I think that nurturing confidence and real interest is key to academic progress, alongside targeting specific, manageable areas of improvement. I like to tailor my sessions to a pupil’s needs, adapting my style as we get to know each other. I am happy to be student or parent led where appropriate, or to bring the structure and content myself. Both my parents were passionate, committed secondary school teachers, so I grew up in a household where curricula, text books and exam boards were a normal, un-intimidating part of daily life, and where learning was prized but in a down-to-earth and welcoming way. That is the culture that I want to recreate for others.

Please get in touch if you think I can help in any way! I will always do my best to get back to you ASAP.
