Information about Emily
I am currently a full time teacher in an over-subscribed Secondary school in Surrey and all recent official lesson observations have been considered `Outstanding`. I am a graduate of the University of Portsmouth, University of Surrey, and Kingston University. With a 1st class Honours in BSc Sociology, Distinction in MSc Social Research, and a PGCE in Secondary Education.
I have a strong passion for both History and Sociology, I currently teach both from KS3-KS5.
Previously in my teaching career I have also taught RE/RS GCSE and would gladly provide tuition in this area also.
Each tutoring arrangement will be tailored to the needs of each student (e.g. the focus may be on content revision and/or exam technique). An initial meeting will take place where we will set out a long term plan. Most arrangements tend to be a weekly session which is tailored to what best fits the availability and requirements of the student. I am also flexible with times and dates, so they can be adjusted on a weekly basis.
I like to build up a strong rapport with my students, and the pace of the session will be dictated by the tutee. Furthermore each session will be assembled as I would prepare for any lesson with excellent resources provided.
Availability: Weekdays after school (with the exception of Wednesdays).
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I am currently teaching KS3 & GCSE History, as well as KS5 Sociology. I have previously taught KS3 & 4 Religious Education too. My record of results and student progress is excellent and I pride myself on being able to adapt my teaching to students of all abilities. Past students have enjoyed successes in their exams and many have achieved their target grade or higher. There will be some specific modules that I will not be able to provide assistance for as I do not have knowledge of all topics within subjects offered. Therefore if you are to make an enquiry please could you specify the modules/topics that are to be studied.
