I am a successful and effective Teacher with 30+ years experience. One of my key strengths, gained from many years teaching in classrooms and one-to-one, is knowing how to explain mathematical concepts and ideas in a variety of ways that allow a student to overcome misunderstandings or difficulties. I seek to teach Maths topics so they have context and I always look to make connections between topics so they are not learned in an isolated manner. I find this helps my students gain in confidence and mastery and ultimately make meaningful progress leading to improved achievement in exams.
In March 2020 all of my tuition transferred to delivery online. In the two years since I have delivered 3000+ hours of online teaching to students all across the UK. Students consistently attest to the usefulness and benefits of online learning in a one-to-one tuition setting.

In 2018 I started as Lead Maths Tutor through a local authority providing one-to-one intervention to students of all ages in many schools. For two years that work has been delivered online using the latest technologies. In that same time I have been self-employed as a private Maths Tutor, mainly helping Key Stage 4 students through to GCSE study and preparing for exams. I have also trained and delivered Maths through the National Tutor Programme (NTP). I am employed as an Expert Exam Marker for the EDEXCEL GCSE exam board.
I began my teaching career in 1990, starting with ten years teaching in primary schools then many years teaching Maths in secondary and further education. I have a consistently good record of helping students to achieve exam success. I hold the post-threshold standards for effective teachers. I hold degree, teaching and diploma certificates relevant to teaching Mathematics. I have Enhanced DBS Status.
