Information about Divisha

Since beginning my teaching career at Westminster Academy, I have shown that I am a hard-working, highly motivated and passionate teacher, who has brought valuable skills and contributions to the Humanities department.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: I have experience teaching all Humanities subjects at KS3 level and have done so since starting at the school 6 years ago. I have taught Geography, Citizenship and RS at KS4 level and, Geography as my specialism at IB level. One achievement for both Geography and the wider Humanities department has been the progress in results. In 2019, results increased from 43% to 61% for grades 9-5. Similarly, at IB, we saw one of our strongest sets of results, with 3 students being awarded the top grade 7, and 4 students a grade 6, and all students accepting a university place. Another achievement that I am very personally proud of, was gaining the Geographical Association’s Secondary Geography Quality Mark, which was awarded to the school for showing evidence of outstanding teaching and learning; exemplary student attitudes to learning; an exceptional enrichment offer, and strong leadership and management.
Since starting my career, I have been fortunate enough to develop my teaching practice through various avenues of professional development with organisations such as the Geographical Association, the Royal Geographical Society, AQA, IBSCA and SSAT. I have attended workshops aimed at refining skills for leading outstanding departments; planning for enquiry-based learning and the use of effective fieldwork to enrich learning. I have been an AQA examiner for the past 2 years and was rated ‘Excellent’ following the Summer 2019 series. I have also completed my NPQML, scoring 30 out of maximum mark of 32, where I researched the use and impact of self-evaluation to improve the quality of teaching and learning within the department. I have also completed SSAT’s Leadership Legacy Project, for which I wrote a think-piece about the benefits of interdisciplinary learning for IB students. Outside of Geography and Humanities, I have attended webinars and workshops with the PSHE Association about effective Relationship and Sex Education provision, and Google for Education.
