Information about Thomas
I obtained my Master`s degree in Chemistry from Imperial College London, graduating with first class honours, a faculty commendation and a publication in one of the most influential chemistry journals. I followed up with a PhD in chemical biology at the same institution, which I have just graduated from.
Aside from science, I`m also a rugby, backcountry skiing and rock climbing enthusiast.
Approach to tutoring:
Building a rapport: I have lived in five different countries and on three different continents. Growing up in a multicultural environment has given me an open-mind that enables me to connect with the widest range of students. This is essential for building a warm and comfortable environment, free of judgement, where the student can realise his full potential.
I promote an enthusiastic and dynamic teaching style, with a particular focus on learning through problem-solving. I have found that this is the most stimulating way to learn, in addition to being the most efficient way to score highly on the day of the exam. Learning is all well and good, but the fun begins when you start applying your knowledge to new problems!

Experience: I have several hundreds of hours of tutoring experience, spanning all age groups and a wide range of subjects. This includes leading university tutorials for second-year organic chemistry undergraduates. I have also undertaken a three-week placement as a teaching assistant in the science department of one of Londons most oversubscribed school, where I successfully planned and delivered hour-long lessons to A2 chemistry students.
I have really enjoyed your tutorials this year. You explain things very well and in a way that makes things seem simpler than they are. I can`t think of anything you could do to improve. D L, 2nd year undergraduate.
I got in to Imperial College London! Thanks again for everything Thomas, this would not have happened without you. B K, year 13 chemistry.
Thanks a lot for your help throughout the year, I did really enjoy your lessons and learnt a lot. S H, chemistry undergraduate.
