Information about Johannes
I will be very open to your interests and your preferences of how to proceed. I will also be clear and honest with you regarding what I think you need to learn or how to improve. If you have exams or coursework, I will guide and help you to reach your educational goals, both in terms of the subject matter and meeting the formal requirements of your course or exams. Generally, I will carefully tailor my teaching to your level and temperament as a student. I can promise that you will learn a lot and make considerable improvements when working with me, and that I will ensure the learning process remains alive and interesting.
As a philosophy tutor, I am excellently qualified and unqualifiedly fond of philosophy as a subject, and can offer you a broad understanding of various historical figures and philosophical schools, but also the contemporary academic field. Students who have some investment in the subject will progress fast, learn a lot, and very possibly even have some good fun.
As a German tutor, I am experienced and able to teach you any aspect of the language system in a clear and applied way, which we will solidify with tailored exercises. If you prefer, we can also work more immersively, and focus on conversation and reading together.
Availability: I am happy to let you know my availabilities throughout the week when we arrange our first meeting. I will be able offer a good range of options for regular appointments.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: I completed a BSc and MSc in Psychology and a BA (distinction, University of Graz) and MA (distinction, King`s College London) in Philosophy. I have recently passed my PhD examination in Philosophy at the University of Cambridge, focusing on Spinoza and Neoplatonism. I`m trained in all areas of philosophy, with special focus on philosophy of religion, ethics and metaphysics. I tutored philosophy as a teaching assistant at the University of Graz, have had contributions to multiple academic conferences, and published papers in the journals "Philosophical Psychology" and "Review of Philosophy and Psychology".
