I have a 2:1 degree in sociology from Lancaster University and have been teaching A-level and GCSE sociology since 2002. My teaching career began in a secondary school in Blackpool. It progressed to subject leader at an outstanding sixth-form college, and head of the social sciences department at one of the largest FE colleges in England, Richmond-upon-Thames College. On leaving Richmond upon Thames College, I led the sociology department at a further education college in Hastings for over 4 years, achieving excellent results and value added scores. I have taught recently at Woking college. Over the last ten years I have also been an examiner for the AQA at A level and have run many successful intensive revision courses.

Availability: I am available some week days and after school/college and at the weekend. I am also happy to tutor online.
I am also able to teach sociology to home schooled students, or as a full A Level to students who cannot access sociology A Level at their school or college.

Experience: I have 18 years experience teaching A Level sociology, across both the AQA and OCR specification, with excellent results. In recent years I have concentrated predominately on teaching AQA sociology at A Level, and was head of sociology at a further education college in Hastings and Richmond upon Thames college for 4 years consecutively. Students consistently achieved excellent results and the value added scores were high. I also run 2 -3 day intensive sociology revision courses over Easter holidays and during May half term, again with very good results.

My specialist subjects include Families and Households, Education with Theory and Methods, Beliefs in Society and Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods.

I have also taught GCSE sociology to home schooled students.
